Everyone wants a perfect speaking pattern and #goodspeakingskills, everyone in us wants pleasant & impressive speaking skills. But so many of us cannot decide how to and what to practice to improve our speaking skills. First of all, how can we be a perfect communicator? or rather than perfect I would like to call it an effective communicator.
Who is the perfect communicator? Is anyone perfect? or we can improve it continuously. Yes, we have to work on it as said before it is a skill you have to learn and you can improve it by following some simple and basic communication rules. Or you can call it a #speakingtips
#communication: The imparting or exchanging of information by speaking, writing, or using some other medium.
for example "television is an effective means of communication"
which means we can not take granted speaking is the only thing by which we can communicate with others. There are so many ways to communicate with people. like writing, singing, your facial expressions, or your body language.
You can also speak with yourself which is called a "Self Talk".
Medium For Communication
When anyone communicates they use a medium. For example, if you connect your PC to the printer, you want any medium to process your order like Bluetooth, and you communicate through that medium. An effective communicator always uses a medium to communicate with people it is not necessarily talking but he can communicate by writing, singing, or acting. Always find your medium before communicating with others. This is the first and most important point of the path to becoming an effective communicator.
Understand Your Audience
The audience you are going to perform in front of, must be on the same track as you are on. If both of you are not on the same track then subconsciously audience will think like you are imposing something on them and they sometimes avoid listening. Until and unless the audience is not ready you should not communicate there. Communication is a two-way process. You both must be on the same track and share the same interest.
First of all, make sure that you & your audience should be on the same track and check whether they are enjoying your content. People want their own benefits only and as I think so, and obviously why would anyone listen to you if you are not going to help them out in any manner? So, first of all, you should tell them why they have to listen to you, what will they gain, and what your audience wants is the main point and deal accordingly.
Listening Is More Important
Listening is the key to becoming an effective communicator. An effective communicator always listens first and talks later. You should know what your audience wants from you otherwise how can you communicate at your best. An effective communicator always listens first and then talks.
Because of listening, you can get a clear idea about what is your audience type, what they want from you, how you can impress them which you always want, you will get a clarification about the person in front of you and most importantly if you speak you will share the things you already know but if you listen maybe you will get to know new things, which ultimately help to improve your knowledge.
Bonus Tips
1. First of all accept the fact that no one is perfect in this world. When there is perfection there is no more chance of improvement. And where no chance for improvement, there is the end.
2. Try to avoid the phrases like "I do not know about it" or "I am not aware of this", this will impact your whole performance. And most importantly audience will start to think negatively about you. Do not let that happen by making some small mistakes like this.
3. An effective communicator performs in such a way that if he so not know some points he will never let them down. He will express his thoughts in such a manner where the audience will always feel appreciated and last but not the least
4. Use your words wisely. Words do more magic than you think.
